Welcome to UPFRONT

A multi-component strategy to implement a tool, called Option Grid, in diverse clinical settings.

What we know already

What do we want to learn?

  • Approximately half of adult women have fibroids, and at least half of these women have symptoms like heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, discomfort during sexual intercourse, or difficulty becoming pregnant.

  • The negative effects of uterine fibroids are worse for African-American women, Hispanic women, and women of lower socioeconomic status.

  • Many options are available to treat uterine fibroids, but there are different trade-offs. The best treatment choice depends on the patient’s preferences.

We want to learn how a tool called Option Grid can be implemented and sustained in 5 clinically diverse practices. The uterine fibroids Option Grid tool helps facilitate conversations with patients and their providers about treatment options that are aligned with the patient's preferences.

We will use and assess a multi-component strategy to implement these tools.

Project funding

We were awarded a three year project funded by PCORI (October 2018-October 2021).
